It’s a generally accepted truth that video game console maker Sony has focused on delivering cool game experiences rather than adding big-name features to its PS4 gaming console. Challenging that perception this week are leaked PS4 Update 3.0 details that should have any gamer excited to get the coming update.

Allegedly, PS4 3.0 details leaked to the internet this week from Japanese website PocketNews. The features list shared by the media outlet are from Japanese PS4 owners already testing out the PS4 3.0 Update before Sony announces it officially on its website and blog. The feature list is long and extensive.

One that should immediately catch anyone’s attention is improved YouTube support. The PS4 3.0 Update adds what the outlet describes as broadcasting support for Google’s online video service. This means owners of the PS4 will be able to stream game footage live to YouTube in the same way that the PS4 now supports Twitch streaming. Whether Microsoft’s Xbox One is also getting this feature isn’t yet clear, but if it isn’t it’s a huge leg up for the PS4. YouTube is the world’s most popular online video website.

PS4 Update 3.0 adds more community features to the mix too. Reportedly, there’s now a specific area in the PS4 interface that shows off what’s happening on the PlayStation Network. PS4 owners can create and join communities made up of their friends, complete with chatting and parties. If true, this is a brilliant feature meant to make the PlayStation Network the premiere place to build a network of gaming friends.

Included in the PS4 3.0 Update also are small upgrades too. 10 second clip uploads to Twitter, comments for What’s New feed items, stickers for messages and sub-account creation for minors are coming too. Allegedly, Sony also plans to borrow from Microsoft’s playbook and lump all of the benefits of its PlayStation Plus subscription into a single area for users to browse. Microsoft added an area similar to this to Xbox One a few months ago.

If true, the PS4 3.0 Update could be a game changer for Sony, which hasn’t been pushing out new features in the same way Microsoft has. Instead of a smattering of upgrades every few months, Sony has focused features in launch waves. For example, SharePlay and PlayStation Music with Spotify are huge functional upgrades added since launch. SharePlay turns the PS4 into a virtual couch, letting other PS4 users take control of a game if their friends need help or if there’s only local co-operative and multiplayer.

Microsoft has added tons of smaller features, like the Activity Feed, which has to be inspired by what’s on the PS4 and social network Facebook.

One of the biggest complaints leveled at the Xbox One is how isolated gaming on it feels when compared to the Xbox 360. Early, the Xbox 360 offered a Community area where users could learn about new features, find Xbox Live events to take part in and more. If Sony’s Community area manages to bring back that feeling of togetherness and make maintaining a decent collection of friends that play regularly, the Xbox One might never recover from the worldwide sales deficit it suffers now.

Microsoft has a major revamp of its Xbox One software planned for this fall, but we haven’t seen much of it yet.

For right now, Sony is staying quiet on the existence of the PS4 3.0 update and any features that might be coming in the near term. The company will definitely have more to share about the update if it’s real towards the fall.

With an iPhone launch date all but confirmed and an iOS 9 release date getting closer, it’s time to start looking ahead. Today, we want to take a look at a few things we think iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users can expect from the iOS 9 release date.

At WWDC 2015, Apple executives took the stage and confirmed a number of new products including an OS X El Capitan update for Macs, a new Apple Music platform for iOS 8.4 users, and an iOS 9 update that will serve as the successor to the iOS 8 update that debuted at WWDC 2014.

On stage, Apple detailed many important iOS 9 features including new apps, boosts to performance, and the iOS 9 beta. It also confirmed an iOS 9 release date for the fall though it declined to outline a specific release date. Typical Apple.

We'd be surprised if Apple waited until September.  What we do know is that iOS 8.4.1 probably won't be a large update. It's more than likely going to feature bug fixes and security enhancements. After being on the market for over 10 years, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is finally releasing for the iPhone and iPad, bringing the joy that you used to have from your PC to the mobile platform for the first time.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 initially released on PC back in 2004 as a sequel to Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 and the original Roller Coaster Tycoon. It was the first title in the series to be completely re-done and move to a 3D interface, getting rid of the top-down interface that made Roller Coaster Tycoon so popular. The new design and interface allowed for many new features to come to the game, including the Coaster Cam.

Since then, Atari has released a couple of new Roller Coaster Tycoon titles, including a Roller Coaster Tycoon mobile game for iOS, but it’s merely just another freemium game that hounds users to pay money if they want to speed things up, which can quickly take the fun out of it.

However, the series on mobile has taken a step back in order to take two steps forward by releasing the older Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 on iOS. The new mobile game costs just $4.99 up front and doesn’t come with any in-app purchases at all, meaning that you won’t have to bother with time-based upgrades that persuade you to spend real money in order to speed things up. Instead, it acts like a true video game should and gives you all the features you’d want without having to pay more for the privilege.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 hasn’t received the best praise to say the least, as the mobile game’s upgrade model isn’t the best around unless you spend real money to move things along more quickly. Of course, many games employ the same gameplay style, but it seems Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 does the worst job at it.

With that said, it appears Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is Atari’s fix for Roller Coaster Tycoon 4, as the new mobile title completely changes things around and gets rid of in-app purchases in favor of a one-time payment up front, a pricing model that used to be popular for iOS games, but has since taken a back seat to the lucrative freemium model.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 on iOS uses the same 3D layout as the PC version of the game, and also includes all 18 scenarios from the PC game. There’s even a sandbox mode for unlimited fun without any limits.

You can design your amusement park using five themes that are available: Generic, Spooky, Western, Adventure, and Sci-fi. Build it how you want, but make sure you’re guests are happy so that you earn more in-game money.

Also in the mobile version of the game is Coaster Cam, which lets you ride along with roller coasters and other rides that you just built. Even custom-made roller coasters can be ridden using Coaster Cam, giving you a first-person view of what it’s like to ride the roller coaster of your dreams.

Unsurprisingly, the iOS game doesn’t have any restrictions on what devices the game will or will not support, so as long as it’s an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 will most likely work fine for you, although the game will probably perform better on newer devices like the iPad Air 2, iPhone 6, etc.

While we would love to see the original Roller Coaster Tycoon make its way to mobile devices, having Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 available on iPhone and iPad is a good start, and hopefully that will open the door for older Roller Coaster Tycoon titles to release, especially if this new release turns out to be a big success for Atari.

Samsung is widely expected to announce the Galaxy Note 5 at tomorrow’s Unpacked launch event in New York City. With just hours to go before the start of Samsung’s show, we want to take a look at a few last minute details Galaxy Note 5 buyers should know about.

For several months, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 rumors have teased Samsung enthusiasts and those looking to buy a brand new smartphone. We’ve seen rumors outline potential Galaxy Note 5 specs, the Galaxy Note 5 release date, even the Galaxy Note 5 design.

Several new Galaxy Note 5 release details have emerged in the hours before Samsung’s big event and they include new information about the phone’s release.

According to a report from The Korea Times, the company’s Galaxy Note 5 release will be focused on selected markets including countries in North America and Asia. This lines up with early rumors about the Galaxy Note 5 release and it could explain why we saw several U.S. Galaxy Note 5 variants cruise through the FCC well ahead of launch.

The newest Samsung handsets will be introduced in New York in what Samsung officials say was “strategic decision” representing its commitment to raise its market share in North America.

The United States’ Galaxy Note 5 release date has yet to emerge but with Galaxy Note 5 sales expected to start on or around August 20th, we could see U.S. carriers start taking orders for the upcoming flagship much earlier than in years past.

Samsung recently discounted its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to make way for its new premium flagship devices and analysts believe that the Galaxy Note 5 will still be aimed at the high-end segment.

Galaxy Note 5 Battery

It looks like rumors of a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery were true. The reliable evleaks claims that the Galaxy Note 5 will feature a 3,000 mAh battery and not a 4,000 mAh battery as some have suggested.

This is interesting because if true, the Galaxy Note 5’s battery will be smaller than the 3,220 mAh battery found inside of the Galaxy Note 4.

Samsung’s rumored to be featuring a Exynos 7420 processor and 4GB of RAM inside of the Galaxy Note 5 so it could be banking on the processor and its software to help deliver the same all-day battery life that many current Galaxy Note users are accustomed to.

Galaxy Note 5 Specs Firm Up

Information gleaned from a leaked Galaxy Note 5 retail box has helped several Galaxy Note 5 specs firm up ahead of launch.

The leak centers on a list of specs detailed on the back of the device’s alleged case. The box lists several key features including wireless charging, 32GB of storage space, a 16MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, a 64-bit processor, and a 5.7-inch Quad HD display.

All of these features have been rumored in the run up to the Galaxy Note 5 launch tomorrow and these are features that buyers can count on at this point.

Galaxy Note 5 Accessories

And finally, a number of Galaxy Note 5 accessories have emerged on Amazon ahead of tomorrow’s Galaxy Note 5 launch date.

PhoneArena has spotted several new Galaxy Note 5 cases from Ulak that show off the cases and what could be the Galaxy Note 5’s design.

Ulak isn’t the first accessory maker to start showing off Galaxy Note 5 cases ahead of time. Spigen and Urban Armor Gear have begun taking pre-orders for their Galaxy Note 5 accessories ahead of the device’s launch and ahead of the release date.

UAG claims that it will start shipping out its pre-orders later on this month.
