LG G Flex 2 Release Kicks Off in the U.S. is a post by Cory Gunther from Gotta Be Mobile.
In January LG announced a brand new curved and flexible smartphone. The all-new redesigned LG G Flex 2 in Las Vegas at the annual CES show, and now it’s finally available to select buyers in the United States after nearly three months of waiting.
This curved and flexible smartphone has a lot to offer, and is available starting today, March 13th from Sprint in the United States, after going up for pre-order late last month. The original LG G Flex was a surprising smartphone that wowed many, but not without plenty of flaws. However, here in 2015 the new and improved G Flex 2 has fixed all those issues, and is finally a phone many buyers should be interested in.

We took a few minutes to get our hands on the new LG G Flex to test out just how pretty the curved display was running on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, and we came away rather impressed. Since then buyers have been waiting for more information about the release, and while Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular all have announced they’ll offer it, today it’s only available from Sprint.
Last year the original LG G Flex hit the market and was a refreshing surprising new device to take on the Samsung Galaxy Round, but it was the LG G Flex that ended up being available from carriers in the United States like AT&T and Sprint. It was the first smartphone of its kind with a curved screen made of a durable plastic coating rather than glass, and it could bend and flex without breaking. However, the lengths to achieve this left the phone as a mediocre offering, but not this year with the new G Flex 2.
For 2015, the brand new LG G Flex 2 is a nice combination between the original, and last years flagship LG G3 smartphone. The Flex 2 features the same elegant and unique design, but adds some of the styling that made the G3 popular. It hit Korea at the end of January, and now it’s finally available in the United States through Sprint.
This year LG modified the design a bit from the original model that was released last year, and for the better. The screen is a little smaller but offers a full 1080p HD resolution, it has some of the best specs of any smartphone to date, and the design is more elegant and normal looking vs the huge curve we saw last year. Here’s what to expect:
LG G Flex 2 Specs
- 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p Full HD Curved Display
- 2.0 GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor with 2GB of RAM
- 16/32GB of storage and micro-SD support
- 13 Megapixel OIS+ rear camera with laser auto focus, 2.1 front camera
- Android 5.0.1 Lollipop with 64-bit support
- 3,000 mAh built-in battery
- Size: 149.1 x 75.3 x 7.1-9.4mm
- Rear facing buttons
- more
The LG G Flex 2 is made of a scratch-resistant and self-healing plastic design, and that includes the Plastic (P-OLED) display covering the 5.5-inch HD display. It can handle wear and tear, and even be bent or dropped without breaking. Last years option simply couldn’t compete with the Galaxy S5 or HTC One M8, but this year it has a lot more to offer and is a top-tier device.
LG’s new G Flex 2 is available today from Sprint for $199 with a new 2-year contract, $21 on Sprint Easy pay with monthly payments, or $504 outright for those who don’t want to be on a contract. Get one today, or wait a little longer to learn more about the upcoming LG G4 smartphone.
