Mortal Kombat X Release Date Delayed for Some is a post by Travis Pope from Gotta Be Mobile.
News concerning the new Mortal Kombat X just isn’t stopping this week. Earlier today, Warner Brothers confirmed that the Mortal Kombat X Season Pass would include two extra characters for users to play as. Hours later, Warner Brothers confirmed that the Mortal Kombat X release date for older consoles had been delayed.
First there’s the disappointing gaming news. In a statement sent to Game Informer , Warner Brothers Interactive confirmed that the Mortal Kombat X release date for Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PCs is still on target for April 14th, a little over a month from now. In that same statement the publisher says that Mortal Kombat X for the Xbox 360 and PS3 won’t make it to store shelves until after the current generation console versions arrive. Those versions of the game won’t arrive until “this summer.”
Just as it was confirming the delayed Mortal Kombat X release date Warner Brothers Interactive was acknowledging two new characters coming to the final version of the game that users weren’t expect. When buyers pick up the $29.99 Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat X they’ll get Jason Voorhees. Voorhees will be accompanied by two other characters from the game’s archive and another guest star. Additionally, users will get, Ronin Kenshi, Samurai Shinnok, and Jingu Kitana skins to use in the game. Season Passes allow users planning to invest in the game’s downloadable content to do so at a reasonable price all at one time. Typically, Season Passes run between $19 and $25, making this one slightly expensive. Jason has starred in American horror films for years.
Game Informer was one of the few outlets to get some hands-on time with the first chapter of Mortal Kombat X. The recap begins with an explanation of the single player story in this game. Shinnok, has decided to go back to Earthrealm and claim it as his own. Fighting flying demons is big in the first moments of the game, but so are quick time events. On the way to the Sky Temple to fight by Raiden’s side, players are confronted by two series regulars: Scorpion and Sub Zero.
The outlet’s Jeff Cork found the game easy to pick up again and play, even though he’d been away from the controls and world for a while. Apparently in the first chapter, the amount of blood and sneering is kept to a minute. Cork specifically notes that longtime character Johnny Cage for every bit as quick and nimble as he was in past games.
With better graphics, new fatalities and locations that users can take advantage of, Warner Brothers is set for a huge Mortal Kombat X release, provided there are new game breaking bugs before launch. The Mortal Kombat series is loved the world over, not for story, but for the ridiculous number of ways users can kill someone. In the game, players choose a character and use him to pulverize their friends. At least conceptually, it’s simple.
Anyone who has played the games for longer than a few minutes knows that judging them only by their can leave you in for a world of hurt. Mortal Kombat players are ruthless. You can’t become a good Mortal Kombat player by mashing buttons. You need to know the right combos to perform devastating attacks. You need fast reflexes so that you can avoid the attacks of enemies. You also need to have the timing of each button press, jump and move down to a science. Failure to do so could have your opponents ready to perform a fatality on you without you having landed a single attack.
Mortal Kombat X will cost $60 for the Xbox One and PS4 when it launches on April 14th. GameStop will offer an exclusive bundle that includes the Kombat Pack Season Pass, an exclusive Scorpion skin and some key art.
