Every year video game reporters find themselves trying to effectively convey how important the Electronic Entertainment Expo is to their audience. There’s always talk about how the stakes couldn’t possibly be any higher and even a short recap of how high current generation console sales are. E3 2015 is important, but you don’t need statistics from gaming sales charts or hardware forecasts to understand it. To truly grasp how important this year’s E3 2015 media briefings and festivities are you only need to look at your console and gaming library.

If what you have on your shelf is Microsoft’s Xbox 360 than E3 2015 is very important to you. Having successfully converted millions of early adopters already, it’s high-time Microsoft started working to court the less-hardcore, demanding core gaming crowd. If there’s an Xbox One on you shelf already E3 2015 is important because its likely Microsoft will whip out more exclusive titles to keep you interested in your console.

What’s equally important — perhaps even more important – is the hardware and the extras that go along with the console experience. Here’s 5 thing we’re hoping for happens at this year’s E3 2015 media briefing for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 that are directly related to hardware, not just games.

Newer titles are making their way to the Xbox One and PS4 exclusively at an alarming rate. NHL 16, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Batman: Arkham Knight are just two of the titles that we’ll never see available on the Xbox 360. As video game developers further distance themselves away from these older consoles, there’s more incentive to upgrade and less incentive to purchase an Xbox 360. That is, unless Microsoft slashes the cost of the Xbox 360.

With a price tag of $179, the Xbox 360 with 4GB of storage and a copy of Peggle 2 seems more than a bit overpriced. It’d make more sense for Microsoft to slash the cost of the Xbox 360 and keep using it as a gateway drug for the Xbox One.
