New iPhone 6s Camera Rumors Emerge is a post by Craig Lloyd from Gotta Be Mobile.

The iPhone 6s is expected to get upgrades all around, and a new report suggests that the device’s camera will get a bump from 8 megapixels to 12 megapixels.

Of course, a bump up to 12 megapixels by itself isn’t entirely beneficial, as megapixels certainly aren’t everything, but it’s also rumored that the iPhone 6s will get an all-new camera sensor made by Sony, which includes RGBW coding technology.

Essentially what this means is that the device adds a white sub-pixel alongside the standard RGB pixels, which can improve image quality greatly, especially in low-light conditions.

This report comes from Feng.com, which also says that the dual-lens camera system that has been rumored for the iPhone 6s is a no-go, despite the many reports on it earlier this year, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple was holding out in order to make it better, as it’s still a rather new technology right now.

It’s been rumored that the next iPhone could see major camera improvements, with Daring Fireball’s John Gruber saying that he was told the next iPhone would include a dual-lens camera system, and the camera improvements would move the image quality into DSLR territory, which we’d have to take with a giant grain of salt, as no camera will be able to match the image quality of a decent DSLR.

Two-lens camera systems in smartphones are nothing new by any means, as the HTC One M8 includes two lenses, but it’s certainly something that isn’t common, and if it’s a system that will drastically increase image quality, we wouldn’t doubt if Apple was at least checking it out and testing it as we speak.

A 12-megapixel sensor is entirely possible, though, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see that in the next iPhone. In any case, it’s almost a given that the iPhone 6s will come with a better camera, and reports over the last couple of months have deemed that a big likelihood. Some reports even suggest that the iPhone 6s could see the biggest camera boost that the iPhone has ever received.

There’s no doubt that the next iPhone will be able to take much better photos than the iPhone 6, and that’s something we expect, but we’ll have to wait until later this year to really find out what Apple has in store for the iPhone 6s’s camera.

Other iPhone 6s rumors that have been trickling in include Force Touch technology on the iPhone 6s’s screen, which has been rumored in the past and it’s being rumored yet again, so it appears that this could be a pretty solid bet.

On the Apple Watch, Force Touch allows users to essentially initiate certain actions based on how hard they press down on the screen. For instance, a heavy press could bring up a menu of sorts, while a light tap would select something. Theoretically, it’s similar to how left-click and right-click work on a mouse, and we could easily see that type of technology come to the iPhone at some point.

A similar technology to Force Touch was also revealed in the new MacBook earlier this week at the Apple Watch event. The trackpad received an upgrade, and while it’s still made out of the same glass material, it’s now pressure sensitive and you can click it anywhere, instead of just from one side like previous trackpads. The pressure sensitivity is used for what Apple is calling “force clicks,” which will allows you to press hard on an address in the Mail app to get a location (for example). You can also use force clicks in Finder to see a preview of whatever is inside a folder.

It definitely seems that Apple is expanding this type of technology to its various products, and the iPhone 6s could be next.
