We heard about a possible iPhone 6c last year and again about the potential for an iPhone 6c release date in 2015, but nothing is set in stone.
If Apple does plan to announce a new iPhone 6c, it will most likely come with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus that we expect in September near an iOS 9 release date.

Did Apple Cancel the iPhone 6c Release?
Despite a growing number of iPhone 6c rumors and demand from potential buyers, the latest report indicates that Apple cancelled the iPhone 6c release for 2015.
Timothy Arcuri of Cowen and Company tolls Business Insider that supply chain sources indicated that Apple was on track to make an iPhone 6c with a 4-inch display, this is no longer on the table.
The success of the iPhone 6 may be to blame, according to Arcuri who shares a possible reason for the change in plans, “And they said, ‘Look, why would we want to cannibalize? If we came out with an iPhone 6C, we would essentially cannibalize a price-reduced iPhone 6.'”
Or is the iPhone 6c Release Date Simply Delayed?
While we normally expect to see Apple combine iPhone releases into one event, a report from the end of June does outline an iPhone 6c release date in early 2016.
Lisa Eadicicco writes on Business Insider that analysts from Jeffries believes Apple will announce a metal iPhone 6c with a 4-inch screen in early 2016.
The note from Jeffries lines up with reports of a stronger aluminum for new iPhone models, but there is the chance that the analysts confused the new iPod touch with the iPhone 6c.

The biggest draw of the iPhone 6c would be a 4-inch screen, but it would likely be a major upgrade from the iPhone 5c that uses an older processor, camera and storage options.
Apple upgraded to a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and a 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014, officially leaving the 4-inch screen size to older devices. If Apple does deliver an iPhone 6c rumors point to the following specs;
- 4-inch display
- 1,715mAh battery as shown on NWE
- Plastic case likely, but one report of aluminum
It’s tough to identify what type of camera and processor an iPhone 6c might ship with, without knowing exactly how it fits into the iPhone lineup.
iPhone 6c Price and Lineup
The biggest question left out by most of the iPhone 6c rumors is how much an iPhone 6c will cost and where it will fit in with the current iPhones.
Apple already sells the iPhone 5c free on a two-year contract with the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus for sale as well. This leaves multiple options with prices from free on contract to $299 for the base storage models.
The iPhone 6c would not likely command a price higher than $99 on contract, and depending on what it offered it might even need to come in lower at free on contract as a replacement for the iPhone 5s. If that is the case we could be looking at this lineup in the future;
- iPhone 6s Plus – $299
- iPhone 6s – $199
- iPhone 6 Plus – $199
- iPhone 6 – $99
- iPhone 6c – Free on Contract
This is unconfirmed and it is unclear how Apple plans to handle the full lineup with two new phones last year and rumors pointing to two new iPhones again this year.
