Grand Theft Auto Online is a living breathing world. As the free multiplayer included with every copy of Grand Theft Auto 5, GTA Online can be the most fun you’ve had with your friends all year. That’s of course, if you have some cash.
No we’re not talking about the cash that you get from the bank and keep stored in your wallet or purse. Like the real world, GTA Online has an economy of its own that’s built on money. Have money and your life in the game gets better. You can move to a bigger house where you can store all of your cars, street bikes and clothing. Money buyers you a faster car with better armor. More money allows you to finance Online Heists for even bigger windfalls. Having money is the only thing standing between life and death, mostly because gun ammo and weapons aren’t free.
You need cash in GTA Online. Here’s how to make money in GTA Online and keep your character well nourished, well equipped and stylish.
Why & How to Get GTA Online Money – Become a Street Thug
The biggest mistake that people make when they first jump into GTA Online is failing to check their morals at the door. Playing the Story Mode in GTA 5 is one thing. Having morels in GTA Online will get you killed.
When you’re first dropped into the game you’re pretty much left with the clothes on your back and a hand gun. It’s on you to start your career as a member on the underworld. When you jump into GTA Online the game automatically has your weapon drawn. Why? Because in those earlier levels you have no armor and no way to defend yourself.
Make some quick cash to buy armor and the stuff you need by beating up anyone and everyone you see on the street. You won’t get a lot of money from this, but it’s enough to keep your pistol loaded with shells while you start trying to make bigger moves. Be careful to look around your character and make sure no law enforcement is standing by. It’s a bad idea to use a gun for this at all. Use your fists to make it less likely that you’ll see the cops coming for you in the near future.
When you have enough money to buy a decent weapon and some armor you can graduate to robbing convenience stores. Convenience stores are scattered throughout the state of San Andreas. They are scattered everywhere. You don’t need to do much. Walk behind the counter and beat the clerk down. An alarm will instantly go off, which is why you want to immediately turn to the cash register and fill your pockets with as much money as is available. The police will immediately go the silent alarm, giving you a slim amount of time to escape. It’s always a good idea to keep a car nearby for a quick runner. Look for the shopping car logos to rob a convenience store.
Why & How to Get GTA Online Money – Heists & Jobs
Jobs are a quick way to earn some cash – provided you’re ready to play with people online and have learned many of the game’s controls. Jobs are on off missions that require you to put together a team and complete a task. There are hundreds of Jobs in GTA Online and they are mostly entry-level criminal work. Stealing boats, cars and that sort of thing. You get paid for each of these Jobs and you can take that money and reinvest it in your character. Look for the blue briefcase icon on you map to find connections for different jobs.
Survival Missions are marked by a blue shield when your character reaches level 15. Waves of thugs come at you as you and your team as you. The longer you live the more money you make. If your team survives all 10 waves of enemies you get $30,000 in cash.
Heists are like jobs in that you need a team in order to pull them off. That being said, everything else about this is different.
First, you don’t just go into a Heist thinking you’re going to make some easy money. It doesn’t work that way. Pulling off a Heist takes time and it takes skill. Also, you need to be prepared.
For Heists you’ll need to suit up in appreciate gear. Armor, masks and a decent compliment of weapons are needed for jobs. You’ll need an appropriate vehicle too. Heists aren’t like Jobs in that you and a team use matchmaking to earn some quick cash.
To participate in a Heist you need to be recruited to a crew. The Heist leader – if that isn’t you – assigns the tasks and decides what the payouts look like. Heist leaders don’t get paid until the very end of the Heist. This is after the big finale of the Heist has been complicated and the setup missions are done. Those merely participating in a crew get paid for setup missions and the final Heist finale. Heist leaders get more money since they’re financing the operation.
GTA Online has five different Heists missions with setup missions between them. The Fleeca Job involves stealing securities and bonds from a deposit box of a bank.
