Galaxy Note 5 Release Date: 10 Things Buyers Can Expect is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date is clearly getting closer and now is a great to start preparing for the device’s arrival. One thing you’ll want to do is set proper expectations and today we want to help you do just that. Here’s what we expect from the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date.
Samsung still isn’t talking about the Galaxy Note 5 or the Galaxy Note 5 release date but we currently have a read on both. Thanks to an onslaught of Galaxy Note 5 rumors, we have a pretty good read on just about everything related to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 successor.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is shaping up to be a fine successor to last year’s model and a solid competitor for the iPhone 6 Plus and rumored iPhone 6s Plus. It’s expected to feature a number of new features including a premium design that resembles the Galaxy S6, a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, new processor, 4GB of RAM, a new S Pen, and more. It’s a phone that people are starting to get excited about, especially because its launch might be just a few short days away.
Galaxy Note 5 launch date and release date rumors have emerged and it looks like we won’t have to wait very long for Samsung to make its announcement or for the company to release the phone. It used to be that we had to wait for IFA, 2015 isn’t a typical year it seems.
With Samsung Galaxy Note 5 rumors picking up and a Galaxy Note 5 release date rumored, we want to take a look at a few things we expect from the Galaxy Note 5 release date. These predictions are based on what we’ve heard, credible Galaxy Note 5 rumors and years of covering Galaxy Note releases.
Galaxy Note 5 Release Date Announcement
The first thing to expect from the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date is for it to be confirmed whenever Samsung announces the Galaxy Note 5.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 launch date is rumored for August 13th and it’s there that we’ll most likely hear everything there is to know about the next-gen Galaxy Note. That includes the release date.
Samsung used to be vague about its release dates but over the years it has adopted an Apple-style approach where it confirms an initial release date on stage. Then days, sometimes weeks later, it confirms the rest.
We’d expect Samsung to confirm the Galaxy Note 5 release date for most regions next month. It’s clear that Samsung’s trying to beat Father Time and the iPhone 6s with its announcement and it makes sense for it to get a date out to buyers as soon as it possibly can.
Galaxy Note 5 Pre-Orders
We’d expect Samsung to offer Galaxy Note 5 pre-orders soon after the Galaxy Note 5 announcement, probably day of. Again, Samsung is trying to be the clock with an early Galaxy Note 5 release and it will want to secure as many orders as it possibly can in August ahead of Apple’s iPhone 6s Plus launch.
Expect most carriers to offer early orders on the Galaxy Note 5. Android flagships usually endure a widespread pre-order process before release and we expect nothing less from a phone that will almost certainly be one of the biggest names in Android this coming fall.
A Reason to Pre-Order
We expect some carriers to ship out the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 before its release date. And if you’re interested, you’ll probably have to pre-order.
Carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T have a habit of rewarding pre-orderers with early shipping dates. Often, we see Android devices move out a few days ahead of the street date. For instanced some carriers shipped the Samsung Galaxy S6 well before its release in April.
We expect the same here with the Galaxy Note 5. We might not see it arrive a day after the launch but don’t be surprised if it hits doorsteps one or two days early.
Galaxy Note 5 Release Date in August
We expect the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date to land in August. Galaxy Note 5 rumors have all pointed to a release next month and when there’s a lot of smoke there’s typically a lot of fire.
Again, it’s clear what Samsung’s motives are. It wants to get this phone out before Apple gets its iPhones out on shelves. Whether or not this will actually work is up for debate.
Galaxy Note 5 rumors have pointed to an arrival on August 21st, or, just a few short days after the launch date. We’d expect the Galaxy Note 5 to be released for a number of key regions on or around that day.
We’d also expect to see some stragglers. Rumors point to late Galaxy Note 5 releases for Europe and Russia. We don’t know if that will be the case but we wouldn’t expect every single region on the planet to get the Galaxy Note 5 on its first day of availability. Not even Apple’s able to do that.
U.S. Galaxy Note 5 Release Date
We’d expect the United States to be among the first batch of countries to get the Galaxy Note 5. Rumors suggest exactly that and there’s no reason to believe that the U.S., one of the biggest markets in the world, won’t be a focus for Samsung this fall.
There’s evidence that points to a Galaxy Note 5 release date. We’ve seen the AT&T, Verizon and Sprint Galaxy Note 5 models pass through the FCC. This doesn’t confirm a specific date but it does mean that these carriers are ready to put this phone out.
We typically see FCC filings clear on launch day or in the weeks between launch and release. The fact that they’ve already passed the FCC is a sign that the Galaxy Note 5 release date will come early in the United States.
Five U.S. Carriers
Don’t expect the Galaxy Note 5 to tons of carriers in the United States. The Galaxy Note series has always been confined to the five major carriers in the United States. This includes AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon. It hasn’t included carriers like MetroPCS and C Spire. We wouldn’t expect that to change this year.
Widespread Availability
When the Galaxy Note 5 release date arrives, we’d expect there to be widespread availability. What we mean is that there will almost certainly be plenty of places to buy the Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung’s flagship phones always go on sale in a mind-boggling number of places and you shouldn’t expect anything different if the company is trying to catch the iPhone in sales.
Expect the usual suspects to offer the Galaxy Note 5. The list should include Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and carrier locations. At the very least. This will be an easy phone to buy on release day.
Galaxy Note 5 Deals, Galaxy Note 4 Deals
We’re expecting the Galaxy Note 4 price to drop when the Galaxy Note 5 arrives. That’ll be a deal in and of itself. We’d also expect retailers to start trying to undercut each other in the hours, days and weeks after the Galaxy Note 5 release. There will be no shortage of Galaxy Note 4 deals once the Galaxy Note 5 arrives.
We’d also expect there to be a few Galaxy Note 5 deals. Maybe not price cuts but perhaps some trade-ins that allow buyers to trade in an old device and knock a portion off the Galaxy Note 5 price.
We wouldn’t expect to early price cuts from retailers like Amazon. It used to be that they’d offer flagships for $20 or so off carrier asking price but nowadays their pricing falls in line with carrier pricing. If you’re looking to score a huge Galaxy Note 5 deal, you’ll probably have to wait a few weeks or maybe even a few months.
Limited Galaxy Note 5 Accessories
With the Galaxy Note 5 expected to feature a redesign that includes different dimensions, we’re not expecting to see tons and tons of Galaxy Note 5 accessories on its release date.
There will probably be some third-party cases available right when the phone comes out but given the design change, we’d expect the overwhelming majority of accessories to come a little later in the game. That includes some of the official Galaxy Note 5 accessories from Samsung.
Very Few Surprises
Expect this to be a pretty straightforward release. In other words, don’t expect the Galaxy Note 5 release date to arrive on a weekend. It will arrive on a weekday.
Don’t expect a midnight pre-order or for retail stores to open early. We never see iPhone-style lines on Android smartphone release dates.
And don’t expect a sell out. Even the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge managed to stay in stock in the hours and days immediately following their release. The Galaxy Note, a high-end niche device, shouldn’t have any problems.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 isn't official yet but that doesn't mean that you can't prepare for its arrival. There are a number of things you can do ahead of Samsung's announcement and release and deciding on how much storage you might need is one of them. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 design is reportedly going to be similar to the Galaxy S6's. That means premium build materials but it also means no microSD card slot for expanded storage. If this is true, and it probably is, it's going to put pressure on you to figure out how much internal storage you'll need. If Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 doesn't feature expandable storage, it'll likely come with several storage options. Those storage options will vary in price. You don't want to pay for storage that you're never going to need so you'll want to think about this ahead of time. Take a look at your current device, think about how you might use your next phone, and estimate how much storage it will take to feel comfortable. For some of you, it might be 32GB. For others, it might be a 128GB of space. We don't know how much the Galaxy Note 5 will come with yet but chances are we'll see some sort of combo featuring 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. |
