We recently showed you how to set any Apple Music song as your alarm on your iPhone, but what if you want to use Beats 1 as your alarm in the morning? Here’s how to do it.

Setting any song from Apple Music as your morning alarm on the iPhone is fairly easy to do, as it’s a built-in feature in iOS 8.4. However, if you’re wanting to use Beats 1 as your main morning alarm sound, the process is a bit more time-consuming, but can be worth it in the end.

Beats 1 is the all-new radio station featured in Apple Music, which is the company’s new music streaming service that aims to take on the rest of the music streaming market, including Spotify and Pandora.

However, unlike other music services, the Beats 1 radio station is controlled by real DJs, so the music you hear was hand-selected by real people instead of using algorithms like other music services do.

Plus, Beats 1 includes more than just music, but also interviews with famous artists and special shows that feature certain genres of music.

If you’re interested in using Beats 1 as your alarm on your iPhone, here’s how to set it up.

Before You Begin

The most important thing to know here is that in order to get Beats 1 to play as your morning alarm on the iPhone, your iPhone will need to be jailbroken.

iOS-8-Cydia

If it’s already jailbroken, that’s half the battle. If not, it’s not difficult at all to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad. We have a handy guide that takes you through the process, but be aware that jailbreaking isn’t for everyone, and there are a few reasons as to why you shouldn’t jailbreak, so jailbreak this at your risk if you decide to do so.

Once you’re jailbroken, the hardest part is over, essentially, but that’s just the first step.

Install Activator

Once your iPhone is jailbroken, you’ll now need to install Activator, which is a jailbreak app that will allow you to set Beats 1 as your alarm in the morning.

To install Activator, simply open up Cydia and search for “Activator”. It will show up in the list and you’ll want to select it. On the next page, tap Install in the top-right corner to install the app to your iPhone.

After it installs, you’ll be asked to respring your device, and from there, you can then open up Activator to begin setting up Beats 1 as your morning alarm.

Setting Up Beats 1 As Your Alarm

Once you have Activator open, it’s time to configure some settings so that you can listen to Beats 1 as you wake up. Setting this up can get a bit confusing, but we’ll guide you through the process so that it isn’t as daunting as you may think.

First, tap on Anywhere in Activator and then select More in the top-right corner. From there, select Scheduled from the list and pick the days of the week as well as the time that you want the Beats 1 station to play. This is also the time that you want your alarm to go off. Hit Save once you’ve selected days and a time, and then tap Done on the next page.

Next, scroll down until you get to the Scheduled section and tap on the time that you set up previously. Tap More in the top-right corner and select Ask Siri. In the text box next to Question, type in “Play Beats 1″ and then hit Save.

Essentially what this does is send a command to Siri to play Beats 1 at a specific time. Since there’s no other way to play Beats 1 at a certain time, this is the next best option, and it works quite well.

You don’t need to set an alarm in the Clock app either, since setting up this trick in Activator will act as the alarm anyway. You could set up a backup alarm of sorts, just in case the Activator trick doesn’t work on some random morning, but otherwise, it should work great, and you’ll be able to listen to Beats 1 right as you wake up.

This is especially a neat trick to do if you enjoy having some variety in your morning alarms. Some people just don’t like listening to the same alarm tune every morning, so having the ability to mix things up is a great feature to have.
