Sneaky New Star Wars Battlefront Leaks Tell All is a post by Travis Pope from Gotta Be Mobile.
Star Wars Battlefront, the sandbox battle game set in the Star Wars universe and coming from video game developer DICE, isn’t due out until this November. That isn’t stopping us rom learning more details about the game and getting a firmer grasp on all the things that’ll be included on Star Wars Battlefront release day.
A detailed list of features and other bits of Star Wars Battlefront release details surfaced last week at NeoGaf, a dedicated gaming forum and haven for leaks and information. Around the same time a video surfaced on YouTube, with what appeared to be actual Star Wars Battlefront gameplay. That video has since been pulled from YouTube over copyright concerns. The leaks are coming from those participating in the Star Wars Battlefront alpha testing sessions that are currently going on. Regardless, they paint a pretty detail picture of the weapons and vehicles serious Star Wars fans can expect in the game.
Weapons supposedly coming in the game include the E11, A280, DH17, DL44, DLT19, DLT20a EE3, Rocket Launcher, SE14c and T21. These are all traditional weapon models used in the Star Wars games and movies. A report at GameSpot chronicling the Star Wars Battlefront leaks indicates that some of these weapons could be locked to specific characters in the game.
Star Wars is known for more than just it’s villains and iconic light sabers. To be successful, Star Wars Battlefront has to put players in the middle of the action with the vehicles and characters that they’re already familiar with it. The full list of characters for Star Wars Battlefront remains illusive, but are learning more about the vehicles themselves. The T065 X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Lambda Shuttle, Y-Wing, Tie-Bomber, Corellian Corvertte, Nebulon B Frigate, Imperials Star Destroyer, Mon Calamari Capital Ship Home One, AT-ST, AT-AT, Tie Interceptor and 74-Z Speeder Bike are all included in Star Wars Battlefront in some way.
Reportedly, time could pass as players play on some levels – like Tatooine, home of Anakin Skywalker. The NeoGaf poster came to this conclusion by deep diving into the Star Wars Battlefront code giving to players in alpha testing. According to him, there are files for rendering the planet at dawn and at full daylight, files that would only need to be included if there was some kind of day cycle, allegedly. The leaker also reveals that Star Wars Battlefront has an extensive list of emotes available for characters. Emotes help characters convey feelings or messages to the player. For example, the leak mentions low health and clapping as two emotes he discovered in the Star Wars Battlefront alpha testing files.
Star Wars Battlefront is expected to be this fall’s must-have game. It’s unlike many of the games we get each year. It’s biggest feature isn’t story-driven linear gameplay. Instead, Star Wars Battlefront focuses on letting players battle each other in huge sandboxes taken directly from the Star Wars universe. In some respects, it’s almost like last year’s Titanfall, which only offered an online first-person shooting experience.
Star Wars Battlefront won’t have space combat, but DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are promising dog fights with other players within the atmosphere of the game’s different planets. Star Wars Battlefront will have multiple modes for online play, but the only one we know about in great detail right now is Walker Assault. It’ll drop a total of 40 different live players and it’ll include everything from AT-AT walkers to Y-Wing bombers, according to a recent post on the Star Wars Battlefront blog.
Star Wars Battlefront launches on November 17th for Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PCs for $60. It won’t be coming to last-generation systems like the Xbox 360 and PS3. Video game retailer GameStop has already opened up pre-orders for the game.
