Android 5.1 Lollipop Update Release Date Rumored is a post by Cory Gunther from Gotta Be Mobile.
Earlier this month the first news of Android 5.1 Lollipop surfaced, and over the past few weeks we’ve continued to hear small bits and pieces of news and information about the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, when it could be coming, and more about Android One smartphones for emerging markets. Today though, a possible Android 5.1 Lollipop update release date has been revealed.
Back in October Google released the first major update in 11 months, which was Android 5.0 Lollipop. However, it was filled with a few small bugs and problems which were followed by a release of Android 5.0.1 and then an Android 5.0.2 Lollipop software update.

That all said, it looks like a major maintenance update to squash many of the ongoing Android 5.0 Lollipop bugs is coming soon, and that will reportedly be called Android 5.1 Lollipop when it gets released in March. At least according to a new comment on Twitter. Here’s what we know so far.
At the moment nothing is really known about Android 5.1 Lollipop, except that it will likely fix a few major bugs plaguing devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop, it could have new features, and the main memory leak issue on Lollipop will finally be addressed. Something that all devices which have been updated have been experiencing.
Android 5.1 Lollipop is still a mystery that Google isn’t too keen on talking about just yet, but it will be the software for Android One devices which are budget phones for emerging markets, and eventually all Nexus and Android smartphones should see updates to the same software. And now today we have a possible release date.
Mo Versi, Senior VP of product marketing at HTC is very vocal on Twitter. Keeping users up to date about software updates for many key devices like the HTC One, HTC One M8 and more. He’s who confirmed the latest Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for the HTC One M8 earlier this week, and now he’s potentially confirmed when either Android 5.0.2, or Android 5.1 Lollipop will start rolling out.
@JensEsbjerg It'll be tied to Google's next MR, which is in March. Thanks.

The HTC One (M7) and HTC One M8 Google Play Edition devices both run stock pure Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, and received it well ahead of most Nexus devices. One user is haiving issues with his HTC One on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop and asked when an update would arrive to address these many problems.
According to Mo, Google’s next software maintenance release (MR) will be coming in March, which we can only assume will in fact be the recently rumored Android 5.1 Lollipop software.
We’ve been seeing countless reports of Android 5.1 already running on the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6, and most likely Google’s in the final rounds of testing and fixing a few problems and bugs, and starting sometime next week will begin the rollout to Android 5.1 Lollipop. February is already more than halfway over, and Mo didn’t give an exact date, but it appears that the next major bug fixing update to Android is coming in less than a month.
Again, there aren’t very many details at this time regarding Android 5.1 Lollipop, but it will most likely be focused around fixing bugs in Lollipop, and potentially adding a few new features.
Google has yet to formally announce or even confirm Android 5.1 Lollipop, but from what we’re seeing and hearing as of late, a rather big update is in the works and should be coming soon. Those with problems after updating to Lollipop on the Galaxy S5, LG G3, HTC One M8, Moto X and more can look forward to a new release in the coming weeks or months with multiple bug fixes, performance improvements and more.
