LG G Flex 2 Release Date Confirmed for U.S. is a post by Cory Gunther from Gotta Be Mobile.

Nearly two months ago LG announced a brand new curved and flexible smartphone in the all-new redesigned LG G Flex 2 in Las Vegas at the annual CES show, and now it’s finally set to make its debut in the United States in early March. Today the official LG G Flex 2 U.S. release date has been confirmed.

This curved and flexible smartphone has a lot to offer, and will be available starting March 13th from Sprint in the United States, with pre-orders going live starting tomorrow, February 20th. The original LG G Flex was a surprising smartphone that wowed many, but not without plenty of flaws. However, here in 2015 the new and improved G Flex 2 has fixed all those issues, and is finally a phone many buyers should be interested in.

We took a few minutes to get our hands on the new LG G Flex to test out just how pretty the curved display was running on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, and we came away rather impressed. Those wanting more info about this unique smartphone we have all the details regarding the US release date below.

Last year the original LG G Flex hit the market in a surprise move to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Round, but it was the LG G Flex that ended up being available from carriers in the United States like AT&T and Sprint. It was the first smartphone of its kind with a curved screen made of a durable plastic coating, and it could bend and flex without breaking, but was lacking in many key areas.

For 2015, the brand new LG G Flex 2 is a nice combination between the original G Flex, and last years flagship LG G3 smartphone. LG has combined the two into one excellent smartphone with top-tier specs, one which surely should be on many buyers radar as the release date grows closer for those in the United States. It hit Korea at the end of January, and now Sprint will offer it starting tomorrow, with in-store availability arriving on March 13th. Yes, Friday the 13th again.

This year LG changed the design a bit from the original model that was available to buyers last year. The screen is a little smaller yet of a higher resolution, the internals sport some of the best specs of any smartphone to date, and the design is more elegant and normal looking vs the huge curve we saw last year. Here’s the full rundown on the curved phone.

LG G Flex 2 Specs

  • 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p Full HD Curved Display

  • 2.0 GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor with 2GB of RAM

  • 16/32GB of storage and micro-SD support

  • 13 Megapixel OIS+ rear camera with laser auto focus, 2.1 front camera

  • Android 5.0.1 Lollipop with 64-bit support

  • 3,000 mAh built-in battery

  • Size: 149.1 x 75.3 x 7.1-9.4mm

  • Rear facing buttons

  • more

The entire device is made out of a scratch-resistant plastic, and that includes the Plastic (P-OLED) display covering the 5.5-inch HD display. It can handle wear and tear, and even be bent a bit if sat on or dropped without breaking. It’s a neat phone, one which fell short in a few areas last year, but looks to be a worthy device to consider over the Galaxy S6 or HTC One M9 here in early 2015.

From the sounds of things the LG G Flex 2 will finally be available to those in the United States starting on March 13th from Sprint, but both AT&T and US Cellular have also confirmed they’ll carry the new device in the near future. Sprint will be asking $504 off contract, and likely $199 with a new 2-year agreement for the Flex 2. Expect further details and other carrier announcements to arrive soon.
