Red Dead Redemption 2 Release: 5 Things to Know Right Now is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

Its been five years since Rockstar released its highly acclaimed Red Dead Redemption for Xbox One and PlayStation 3. And in those five years, fans of the game have been clamoring for a Red Dead Redemption 2 release. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed anything yet but we’ve seen several potential details emerge. Today, with new information swirling, we take a look at everything we know so far about the Red Dead Redemption 2 release.

Earlier this week, Red Dead Redemption and John Marston celebrated their five year anniversary. The game, a spiritual successor to Red Dead Revolver, was released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 18th, 2010. The title garnered numerous awards and it’s considered, by many, to be one of the best video games of all time.

Unfortunately Rockstar San Diego and Take-Two Interactive, the two companies behind the successful franchise, have yet to confirm a sequel and a Red Dead Redemption 2 release remains out of reach for PlayStation and Xbox users.

While the game itself still isn’t confirmed, we have seen numerous rumors and potential hints emerge. Rockstar is known for taking its time to release games and there’s speculation that the companies could be working on something big for release behind the scenes.

With new details emerging today, we want to take a look at everything there is to know right now about this unreleased title. If you’ve been following along, this will refresh your memory and fill you in on some new details. If you haven’t been following along in the five years since the release of the original Red Dead Redemption, this will catch you up to speed.

Rockstar Teases Red Dead Redemption 2 Release

Rockstar San Diego and Take-Two Interactive haven't confirmed a Red Dead Redemption 2 release but that doesn't mean that they haven't dropped hints about the successor for one of the best video games of all time. They have.

According to Gamespot, at the end of last year, Rockstar Games teased possible details for this year. The comments came from a Rockstar Games' "Asked & Answered" feature where the company talked about the excitement gamers have for the franchise. And while the company did not call the game out by name, it teased potential details for this year:

As we've mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as Red Dead Redemption, Bully, and L.A. Noire, we don't always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won't get to them eventually.

We have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing. We thank longtime fans such as yourselves as always for your amazing support and please stay tuned in 2015 for announcements of what's to come from Rockstar Games.

Rockstar is known for producing some of the most iconic games of all time including the Grand Theft Auto series, the Max Payne series, L.A. Noire, and more.

However, it's also well known for taking its time to get these titles to shelves. The most recent example of this practice is the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 which arrived earlier this year after a lengthy delay. The company needed extra time to polish the game and it turned out beautifully. The game has received high marks from reviewers and buyers alike.
