Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 Release: 7 Things to Know Now is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

The Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 update continues to make progress and it’s expected to include a Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 update. With that in mind, we take a look at a few things you need to know right now about the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 release.

In April, Google started rolling out a brand new version of its Android Lollipop software dubbed Android 5.1.1. The update, a bug fixer for Nexus smartphone and tablet users, has since moved on to other non-Nexus devices capable of running Google’s Lollipop operating system.

One company that’s been making a solid Android 5.1.1 push is Samsung, the company behind the popular Galaxy series of Android devices. In June, Samsung started rolling out Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Android 5.1.1 updates in the United States and those updates continue to hit other regions around the world.

Samsung is also rolling out an Android 5.1.1 update to the Galaxy S5, its 2013 flagship, and a device that encountered numerous Lollipop problems in the weeks after the start of the Android 5.0 roll out.

Samsung hasn’t said where its Galaxy Android 5.1.1 release will head next though most believe that it will hit the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung’s current Galaxy Note flagship. We’ve seen a number of new details emerge in recent days and today we want to take a look at what we know so far about the Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 release.

Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 Release All But Confirmed

Thanks to a series of leaks, we know that Samsung is working on a Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 release. The most revealing leak came a three weeks ago from well-known Samsung Galaxy update insider, SamMobile.

This leak included several key details including the fact that Samsung’s now got the update in for testing in its labs ahead of a public release. Its existence in benchmarks and in credible rumors means that a Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 roll out is extremely likely.

In fact, it looks like some users in Russia have already been able to get their hands on the update though it doesn’t look like an OTA is happening at the moment.

Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 Release Date

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 release was rumored for July, specific date unknown. Over the weekend, several reports claimed that the Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 update had started rolling out in some capacity and unfortunately, it’s still not clear exactly what’s going on.

According to SamMobile, Samsung has begun rolling out the Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 update though users claim that an OTA hasn’t started. SamMobile’s own Firmware site that’s in tune with Samsung’s servers seems to back that up.

Instead, some users in Russia are saying that the only way to get the update right now is through a Samsung Service Center. Those reports are unverified but it’s something that’s happened in the past so it’s not out of the question.

Roll out or not, it does look like the release could be close as Russia is a place that Samsung often uses as a test region ahead of a wider push. And while nothing is confirmed, owners of the SM-N910C in Russia should be on the look out for a release in the days and weeks ahead.

Nothing Confirmed for U.S.

It’s worth noting that we still haven’t seen any U.S. carriers confirm Android 5.1.1 updates for the Galaxy Note 4. The only carrier that confirms updates ahead of time is T-Mobile and even it didn’t confirm its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Android 5.1.1 updates ahead of time.

Point is, if you’re looking for a Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 update in the United States, you need to remain patient. Samsung’s Galaxy Android 5.1.1 updates have focused on U.S. models but that doesn’t guarantee a swift release or even a release for U.S. versions of the Galaxy Note 4.

If U.S. carriers do roll out Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 updates, and they might, we don’t expect to hear about them until the actual release dates.

Or Anyone Else

What’s also interesting is that the few carriers that have confirmed upcoming Android 5.1.1 updates have yet to confirm anything for the Galaxy Note 4. That includes French carrier SFR who says that it will be rolling out updates for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S5 and that it will be releasing its next schedule in September.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that they won’t be rolling out Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 updates but it does mean that they could be pretty far out in the distance. The focus right now seems to be on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge (and to an extent the Galaxy S5).

Start Preparing Now

With a Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 release seemingly on the way, now is a great time to prepare yourself and your device for the Android 5.1.1 update’s release.

We’ve put together some things to do before your update arrives. And because your update could come at anytime, you’d be wise to take a look at these steps right now.

We’ve also released some Galaxy Android 5.1.1 release date tips that will help if Android 5.1.1 will represent your first Android update on the Galaxy Note 4. They might also come in handy if you’re an average user and just need a reminder about some of the dos and don’ts.

Android 5.1.1 Problems

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 update will likely focus on fixing lingering Lollipop problems. Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop problems have been a problem for sometime and Android 5.1.1 will almost certainly alleviate some of these headaches when and if it rolls out.

That said, the Android 5.1.1 update has the potential to cause problems on the Galaxy Note 4. We know this because it’s already causing problems on the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S5. This is why we tell people to prepare ahead of updates and it’s why you should take the time to ensure that you and your device are ready for the day that Android 5.1.1 arrives. A little preparation could go a long way.

The problems we’ve seen have been isolated but it’s important to be prepared. Keep these issues in mind as we push toward a wider release.

Fixes for Android 5.1.1 Problems

In response to these issues, we put together a list of fixes. It would be wise to commit these fixes to memory so that you’re prepared if and when you encounter Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 issues.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Android M update should be coming to the Galaxy Note 4 at some point down the road. And if it does, it should help fix lingering Lollipop problems on board Samsung’s flagship.

Note-5-release-1

Android M is focused on performance and improving Android’s code so we expect it to have a positive impact on Samsung’s Galaxy devices. Android 5.1.1 is probably the end of the road for Lollipop and with an Android M release rumored for August, we expect Android M to be next.
