If you need a good playlist of music to have during your house party or when you’re working out, here’s how to find the perfect Apple Music playlist.
You could always create your own playlist in Apple Music using hand-selected songs, but that can take a while, and if you’re in a hurry to come up with some songs to play at your party, you simply won’t have time to come up with your own playlist.
However, Apple Music has you covered, and the new music streaming service comes with a ton of playlists that have been curated by real people.
No matter the situation or occurrence, Apple Music might just have the perfect playlist for you, whether you’re hosting a dance party, a backyard barbecue, or even just a quiet evening with a handful of friends, Apple Music has a generous selection of playlists to choose from.
Of course, you could use the Radio feature in Apple Music and choose one of the many different stations that the service offers, but it’s up in the air as far as what songs will play. At least with playlists, you can see the songs in the playlist and get an idea of what kind of music you’ll be hearing.
Without further ado, here’s how to find the perfect Apple Music playlist for your party or get-together.
Finding the Perfect Apple Music Playlist
Before you start your party and guests come over, you need some music playing in the background, so be sure to hunt for that perfect playlist ahead of time. In Apple Music, there are a few places you can find curated playlists.
The main area where you’ll find playlists is under the New tab at the bottom. Scroll down a bit and you’ll see a few playlist options: Apple Editors Playlists, Activities Playlist, and Curators Playlists.
Apple Editors Playlists are playlists with music that Apple Music editors are “obsessing over.” Selecting that option will provide you with different genres to choose from, and selecting one will bring up that genre with more details. From there, tapping on Playlists will bring up a generous lists of playlists that will play music from the genre you selected.
Activities Playlists will show a list of different activities, such as dancing, cooking, chilling out, and even “getting it on.” Selecting a certain activity will show you different playlists to choose from that will play music that’s appropriate for whatever activity you selected.
Curators Playlists are playlists of music selected by various media outlets, like GQ, DJ Mag, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, etc. Each media outlet has a list of playlists that you can choose from.
If you want more playlists choices, you can scroll down even further in the New section and you’ll find Hot Playlists. This is usually full of all sorts of different music with different genres to choose from. You can even play “Today’s Hits,” which is a playlist featuring the best new pop songs.
When you select a playlist, you’ll see the songs included and can decide if it’s the perfect playlist for you. If so, you can hit Shuffle toward the top, or tap on a random song to play that song first and begin the playlist.
Of course, the closest to a perfect playlist you’ll get is by creating your own playlists with your favorite songs. You can create a playlist in Apple Music by going to the My Music tab at the bottom, selecting the Playlists tab at the top and then tapping Create Playlist. Give it a name and hit Done, or you can select Add Songs to add songs from your library to the playlist.
Otherwise, you can search for music and add songs to your playlist that way, but be aware that any song you add to a playlist of yours will automatically be added to your library. Unfortunately, there’s no way to change this.
