3 Reasons Not to Buy Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition

3 Reasons Not to Buy Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

Bethesda’s Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition has proven to be a hot commodity in the weeks since pre-orders went live and it’s now extremely difficult to find. While it’s scarce, many people are still going to investigate if it’s worth buying in the buildup to its release in November. And while there are reasons to consider buying it, there are also some reasons why you might not want to buy the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition.

In early June, Bethesda hosted its first major E3 press conference at E3 2015 in Los Angeles. There, the company detailed several new titles including Dishonored 2, a new Doom, and a new installment in the Fallout series called Fallout 4.

Fallout 4 is a successor to Fallout 3 (2008) and Fallout New Vegas (2010). The game has been a long time coming and it will finally make its way to shelves on November 10th for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Owners of older consoles like the Xbox 360 and PS3 will not be able to pick up Bethesda’s new game.

In addition to a regular version of the game, Bethesda’s also offering a collectors edition that comes with several items including a real life version of the Pip Boy that the game’s main character wears to check his or her stats, inventory, and more. The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition went on sale alongside the regular version of the game earlier this month but it’s already sold out ahead of its release.

We’re expecting to see stock periodically appear at retailers and we’re also expecting a sizable reseller’s market in the months before its November release. It’s hard to find but it won’t be impossible to buy.

There are certainly some great reasons to try and find this version of Fallout 4. There are also some reasons why you may not want to waste your money or time trying to track a copy down. Here are a few reasons why you might not want to buy the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition for PS4, Xbox One or PC.

Doesn’t Work With Your Phone

Let’s start with the most obvious reason to avoid the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition.

Earlier this month, Bethesda detailed which phones will support the Pip Boy. As a reminder, the Pip Boy is a gadget that you can wear on your wrist. And with a smartphone attached, you’ll be able to access in-game Fallout 4 information like your inventory. It mirrors the experience in the actual game. Unfortunately, it won’t work with every phone.

The device will work with iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, Samsung Galaxy S5, and Samsung Galaxy S4. The company also says that “using the customizable foam insert you should be able to fit most other popular smartphone devices.” In other words, if your phone is similar in size to any of the aforementioned devices, it should work with the Pip Boy.

If your phone is bigger than any of those phones, it won’t fit the Pip Boy. That means that popular phones like the iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy Note 4, and Galaxy Note 3 will not fit inside the Pip Boy. Those are extremely popular phones but it doesn’t look like Bethesda is going to budge.

So unless you own a number of different phones or plan to keep the Pip Boy in a glass case on your shelf, you won’t want to waste your energy tracking down stock.

Remember, the companion Fallout 4 app that allows you to interact with your game on the phone will work with any phone. You just won’t be able to simulate the Pip Boy experience.

It’s Expensive

If you’re somehow able to find stock or someone willing to sell the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition at face value, you’re going to have to shell out $120. That’s a lot for a video game so unless you’re invested in the Fallout universe or you’re a collector, you’re probably better served spending that money on something else.

And that’s just if you find the game for $120. Now that it’s sold out, it’s a resellers dream. We’ve already seen a number of copies show up on eBay for $200+ and we expect that price to increase as we move closer to the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release date in November.

The Pip Boy is much cooler than most items that come in a special bundle but again, it probably won’t be worth $200+ to most of you. That’s a lot to pay for a piece of plastic that sits on your wrist, especially if you have no connection to the Fallout universe.

You Won’t Actually Use It

We pre-ordered the Pip Boy because we have an emotional attachment to the Fallout series. Many others did the same. Point is, you shouldn’t waste your time or money on the game unless you think you’ll actually put it to good use.

Don’t fork over your cold hard cash just because the game is sold out and popular. Don’t buy the game if you’re planning to rip a fan of the game off. And don’t buy it if you think it’s just going to sit on a shelf collecting dust.

Buy it for the right reasons. Because you love Fallout. Because you think you’ll use it during the game. Because you’ll find a use for it after you’re done enjoying it. Maybe that’s selling it to someone else that was unable to buy it during the rush.

If you aren’t sure if you’ll use it or not, wait for reviews to come out in November and then decide. It’s going to be expensive and hard to find but there will be ways to buy.

Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition Release Date

The most important thing that you need to know, as a prospective buyer or a future owner, is that the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release date is the same date that Bethesda plans to release the regular old version of Fallout 4.

The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release date is set for November 10th and from the looks of things, the company isn't anticipating any setbacks, even with the huge demand for the collectors edition. It has a production plan and it's sticking to it.

We don't expect the company to encounter any delays with the Fallout 4 release date and if you already ordered a Pip Boy Edition, you should expect to have it show up on your doorstep or the doorstep of a loved one in time for the holidays.

Ameen Khatri a dit…

It has fully emerged to crown Singapore's southern shores and undoubtedly placed her on the global map of residential landmarks. I still scored the more points than I ever have in a season for GS. I think you would be hard pressed to find somebody with the same consistency I have had over the years so I am happy with that. fallout 4 napp
