What Jailbreak Tweaks Work with the iOS 8.3 Jailbreak? is a post by Craig Lloyd from Gotta Be Mobile.
TaiG released its iOS 8.3 jailbreak earlier this week, and it was just recently updated to fully support Cydia, allowing users to start using jailbreak tweaks, but what jailbreak tweaks actually work with the iOS 8.3 jailbreak.
As with any new jailbreak, there are always a handful of jailbreak tweaks that need updated in order to work with the new jailbreak. If you’re lucky, many of them will work right out of the box without an update simply because of the way it was developed, but there are still tweaks out there that need updated when a new jailbreak releases.
That can be one of the bigger downsides to being an early adopter of a new jailbreak, including this new iOS 8.3 jailbreak, which works great on the iPhone and iPad, but you really need jailbreak tweaks in order to really take full advantage of it all.
So if you’re thinking about installing the iOS 8.3 jailbreak on your iOS device, you might be wondering what jailbreak tweaks work and what tweaks don’t work with the iOS 8.3 jailbreak. Here’s what you need to know.
iOS 8.3 Jailbreak Tweaks That Work
Surprisingly, you may be happy to know that a majority of the popular jailbreak tweaks are compatible with the iOS 8.3 jailbreak. This shouldn’t be too surprising, as many jailbreak tweaks can work throughout a major version of iOS, even when it updates every few months. It’s usually when there are all-new iOS versions and a new jailbreak to come with it when jailbreak tweaks need major updates before they’ll work properly.
Popular tweaks like Activator, Auxo, BioLockdown, ShowCase, SwipeSelection, etc. all work great with the iOS 8.3 jailbreak without needing an update at all. In fact, a majority of jailbreak tweaks available right now don’t need an update to work flawlessly with the iOS 8.3 jailbreak.
For your convenience, here’s an entire list of jailbreak tweaks that users have reported either work or don’t work, with the ones that don’t work just yet listed at the bottom.
In order to download, install, and use jailbreak tweaks, you’ll want to make sure that your jailbreak is updated. If you jailbroke your device right when TaiG’s iOS 8.3 was released, you’ll need to update it by going into Cydia, searching for TaiG 8.1.3-8.x Untether and install it. Then, reboot your device and you’ll be good to go.
If you haven’t yet jailbroken, you can install the iOS 8.3 jailbreak using TaiG’s latest jailbreak tool, which is on version 2.1.2.
iOS 8.3 Jailbreak Tweaks That Don’t Work Yet
Unfortunately, not all jailbreak tweaks work properly with the iOS 8.3 jailbreak, including some popular jailbreak tweaks that many users heavily rely on.
A few that come to mind are Tinybar, IntelliScreenX, and Springtomize. Springtomize is one of the most popular jailbreak tweaks out there, and it lets you do a whole ton of stuff to your jailbroken iPhone, so it’s definitely a big hit when it’s not updated for iOS 8.3 yet. However, the developers of the tweak are no doubt working on an update.
If you’re deciding whether or not to jailbreak your device because of some tweaks not being updated yet, it’s best to look over the tweaks that you think you’ll use and see if they’re compatible with the iOS 8.3 jailbreak yet.
For many users, Springtomize not being updated yet is a huge blow, as the tweaks does so many things. For that alone, it’s highly possible that some avid jailbreakers may take a step back and wait for the tweak to get an update before diving into jailbreaking waters.
Otherwise, if you can live without some of these tweaks for a little while, then go right ahead and update your iPhone or iPad to iOS 8.3 and jailbreak away. There are still many awesome jailbreak tweaks that you can download right now that work great on iOS 8.3.
