iOS 8.4 Jailbreak Could Arrive Next Week is a post by Craig Lloyd from Gotta Be Mobile.
An iOS 8.3 jailbreak was released earlier this week just ahead of the iOS 8.4 update, which begs the question whether or not this new jailbreak will work with iOS 8.4 and if we’ll actually see an iOS 8.4 jailbreak next week.
It’s a bit of a mystery as to why an iOS 8.3 jailbreak released when it did, since the iOS 8.4 update will arrive next week at some point (most likely on June 30), but it’s been said that the TaiG jailbreak dev team is confident that Apple won’t patch up any of the exploits in time for a June 30 release, thus the reason why an iOS 8.3 jailbreak released when it did.
With that said, jailbreak developer iOShXr says that the TaiG iOS 8.3 jailbreak works on iOS 8.4 beta 4, which means we could see an iOS 8.4 jailbreak as soon as next week.
The developer tweeted that the new jailbreak works with the latest beta for iOS 8.4, possibly hinting that iOS 8.4 will be jailbreakable when it releases next week.
Of course, there’s still time for Apple to take a look into TaiG’s new jailbreak and patch up any of the exploits in iOS 8.4 before they release it, as the company has yet to release a Gold Master version, as well as a final version of iOS 8.4.
The chances of this happening are unknown, but we wouldn’t be surprised either way.
In any case, if you plan on jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad, it might be a good idea to go ahead and update to iOS 8.3 right now. Then, you can wait until iOS 8.4 releases, and if it does patch up the jailbreak, go ahead and jailbreak your iOS device on iOS 8.3. If iOS 8.4 turns out to be jailbreakable, you can just update to iOS 8.4 and jailbreak from there. Either way, you can finally update from iOS 8.1.2, which was the latest version that was jailbreakable for several months.
For those that have Windows computers, you can jailbreak your iPhone or iPad on iOS 8.3 right now, with an update coming soon for Cydia that will allow the jailbreak app store to work properly on the latest version of iOS. Currently, Cydia doesn’t work properly, as the Mobile Substrate needs updated in order for tweaks to work. However, that update should be arriving fairly soon.
Cydia operates separately from the actual jailbreak, which means that Saurik (the creator and developer of Cydia) and the developers of the TaiG jailbreak have to work together to make sure that both components work well together and are compatible before the jailbreak releases. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case with the last couple of jailbreak releases.
If you have a Mac, you unfortunately can’t jailbreak just yet, as the jailbreak tool only works for Windows computers at the moment, but a tool for OS X should come in the near future at some point.
You can download the jailbreak tool on TaiG’s website right now, which includes a .ZIP files that uncompresses to an .EXE file. From there, you’ll run that on your Windows computer with your iPhone or iPad plugged in. Here’s a full guide on how to jailbreak iOS 8.3.
It’s important that you back up your device first before you jailbreak, so if anything goes wrong, you can restore and not lose any of your settings and apps.
You’ll also want to make sure to disable Find My iPhone and the passcode before you begin the process to avoid having any problems, and it’s also a good idea to turn off WiFi, as there have been reports of failed jailbreaks due to WiFi for some reason.
The jailbreak tool is fairly straightforward to use, and it’s perhaps the easiest tool that we’ve seen over the last couple of years. All you do is click Start and wait for the process to complete, giving you a jailbroken device on the other end.
