Fallout 4 Release: 7 Things Buyers Can Expect Now is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.
The Fallout 4 release date was confirmed last week for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. And while it won’t be arriving until later this year, there’s still a ton of excitement surrounding this game. With that in mind, we want to take a look at a few things we expect now from the upcoming Fallout 4 release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Last week, Bethesda took the stage at E3 2015 to announce the next installment in the Fallout series. The company’s new game is predictably called Fallout 4 and it will be arriving on November 10th for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Bethesda decided not to develop the game for Xbox 360 and PS3 meaning those who own those consoles will need to find alternative means.

In the past week, we’ve seen a number of new Fallout 4 release details emerge including some frustrating problems for those trying to order the collectors edition of the game known as Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition. The Pip Boy Edition is one of the most interesting bundles we’ve seen in some time and it’s showing in the buildup to the Fallout 4 release. The game is hard to find.
With that and the regular Fallout 4 release in mind, we want to take an updated look at what we expect from Bethesda and the upcoming Fallout 4 release for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Our goal here is to set your expectations as we move away from the E3 2015 announcements towards the Fallout 4 release date.
More Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition Stock
When Bethesda announced Fallout 4, it also announced a special collectors edition. The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition comes with the game but it also comes with a real-life Pip Boy that works in conjunction with an iPhone or Android phone to display realtime data about a user’s Fallout 4 experience.
We had a feeling that this special edition would be popular and popular it is. The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition is sold out everywhere at the moment and fans of the game are frustrated with the lack of availability. We still aren’t sure when it will come back into stock though we do expect it to become available again in the future.
The one clue that we have is from Amazon who says that it’s working to get more of the product in soon. In other words, we have a feeling this isn’t the end for Amazon’s Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition. It could take weeks but we’d expect retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop and Walmart to offer orders for the game in the run up to November.
There’s no telling when the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition will come back but you’ll be able to track retailer inventory so that you can put in an order as soon as it comes back.
Fallout 4 to Remain in Stock
While we expect to see Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition stock fluctuate and potentially sell out ahead of the game’s release in November, we wouldn’t expect buyers to have any difficulty buying the regular version of the game.
We can’t remember the last time a regular version of a video game sold out completely and it would be shocking to see the regular version of the game experience any kind of stock issues ahead of its November 10th release date. This isn’t the iPhone that we’re dealing with here.
What this means is that you can pre-order at will. It also means that you don’t have to put in an early order for the game. If you’re on the fence, take your time and maybe wait for reviews to come out.
No Fallout 4 Demo or Fallout 4 Beta
With no multiplayer mode and no popularity problems to speak of, we don’t expect Bethesda to release a Fallout 4 beta or Fallout 4 demo for PS4, Xbox One or PC ahead of release.
Typically, when a developer releases a beta, it’s focused on the multiplayer aspect of the game. Microsoft’s Gears of War Ultimate Edition beta is just the latest example.
Game demos, especially for popular games, are pretty rare these days. Final Fantasy 15’s two playable demos aren’t typical of an AAA release in 2015. We’d be shocked if Bethesda released a Fallout 4 demo ahead of its release. We simply don’t see the need for one.
More Fallout 4 Details Ahead of Release
We expect to see more Fallout 4 release details and more details about the game emerge as we push deeper into the year, closer to the game’s release.
While this game is already selling like hotcakes, we’re confident that Bethesda is going to refresh our memory later this year with some new announcements. Maybe we’ll see the release of another teaser trailer, another gameplay video, or new details about the characters in the game.
This is a huge title that has taken years to develop. And it’s coming out ahead of the holiday season. Expect a huge marketing push from Bethesda and ZeniMax.
PS4 Fallout 4 Mod Support
One of the beautiful things about the PC versions of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas is that they have wonderful communities that have been the source of a number of impressive mods. Some mods are small but others like Fallout: Project Brazil are massive in scope. Bethesda clearly loves modders and Fallout modes because it’s bringing mod support to the console version of Fallout 4.
Bethesda will release the Fallout 4 Creation Kit to PC users in early 2016 and owners of the Xbox One version of Fallout 4 will be able to take advantage of these mods. We fully expect the Xbox One to get this nifty feature well-ahead of the PS4 and we wouldn’t expect mod support for PS4 Fallout 4 to arrive anytime soon.
The company says that mod support will come to the PS4 eventually but that the timeframe for that support is “fuzzy.” Translation: It could be awhile.
We expect Bethesda to eventually deliver the goods to PS4 users but you should expect to have to wait longer than your Xbox One counterparts. Perhaps a lot longer.
We also wouldn’t expect paid mods to return.
More Fallout 4 Deals
We’ve seen some deals for the regular version of Fallout 4 emerge in the aftermath of pre-orders. Best Buy is offering a 20% price cut to those in the Gamers Club Unlocked program and we wouldn’t be surprised if Fallout 4 was included in this list of deals before its release date. Microsoft’s also offering a nice pre-order bonus.
We expect to see more deals, particularly for the PC version of the game, before the November 10 release date. We probably won’t see the game’s price cut in half ahead of release but we’d expect you to be able to save some money if you dig around.
The biggest price cuts will likely come in the weeks and months after the game’s release.
Few Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition Deals & Ripoffs
We wouldn’t expect to see a ton of Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition deals. Best Buy is offering one to its Gamers Club Unlocked members but we haven’t seen many others and don’t expect to see many others as we push towards release. Price cuts come when retailers are trying to push something to consumers. They don’t need to push this version of the game. It’s already flying off shelves.
We also expect to see people continue to put their Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition pre-orders up on eBay with absurd asking prices. We’ve already seen a number of them pop up on eBay with one seller asking buyers to fork over $270 for the rights to the unreleased game.
We expect this to continue and we’d expect it to get real ugly if the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition is completely sold out come November.
