The Gears of War Xbox One release date is confirmed and instead of one release date, we have two. Microsoft will be releasing at least two new titles one called Gears of War Ultimate Edition and the other dubbed Gears 4 and today we have details on both the Gears of War Ultimate Edition release date and the Gears of War 4 release date.
In the run up to Microsoft’s E3 2015 press event, we had heard that the company might have some Xbox One Gears of War release details up its sleeve. Rumors pointed to a Gears of War remastered for Xbox One and a brand new addition to the series that many believed would be Gears of War 4.
Many of these rumors were specific and several game from rogue beta testers that broke NDA agreements and leaked new Gears of War details ahead of Microsoft’s big reveal.

Today, Microsoft and its developer partners did not disappointed as they confirmed two new Xbox One Gears of War games and their release dates. With that in mind, we take a look at the five most important things you need to know right now about the Gears 4 release date and the Gears of War Ultimate Edition release date for Xbox One.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition Release Date
On stage, Microsoft confirmed the elephant in the room. The company is going to release a remastered version of the first Gears of War for Xbox One. The remastered version will obviously not be coming to the Xbox 36o or the PS4. This is an Xbox One exclusive.
The company’s say that the game is fully rebuilt in 1080p and that it will run at 60FPS. The developer also says that there will be brand new content to look forward to, an added incentive for those that are fans of the first game and fans of the Gears of War series.
The Gears of War Ultimate Edition release date is confirmed for August 25th which means that it will be out in time for the holiday season. The release will come after the release of a Gears of War Ultimate Edition Beta that will be released to Xbox One users today.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition Beta
Today, Microsoft will release a Gears of War Ultimate Edition beta ahead of its public release later this year. The companies did not outline all of the specific details instead choosing to wait until 4PM PST today to announce the key elements of what should be a very popular beta.
We’re expecting the focus here to be on the multiplayer aspect of the game which is likely going to be the biggest draw for owners of the Xbox One. We’ll update this once we get more details about the beta process.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition Pre-Orders
Those looking to put in a Gears of War Ultimate Edition pre-order can do so today. Amazon is now taking pre-orders for Gears of War Ultimate Edition for Xbox One and we imagine that other retailers will soon follow suit. Those not looking to buy from Amazon will want to keep an eye on Best Buy and GameStop.
Gears of War 4 Release Date
Microsoft also confirmed an all new Gears of War release for the Xbox One and it’s not a remastered version of Gears of War 2 or Gears of War 3.
Gears of War 4 for Xbox One is confirmed and it will be making its way to the Xbox One sometime next year during the holiday season. What this means is that we’ll likely see details trickle out ahead of E3 2016 and ahead of its release date that’s more than a year away.
Many of the game’s key details remain a mystery and we’re not expecting them to be cleared up for some time as Microsoft and developer The Coalition work hard to get the game ready in time for the Holiday 2016 release date.
Gears of War Deals
Amazon is currently listing at full $60 price for the Gears of War Ultimate Edition which means that many people will be looking to knock some off that game’s price tag.
While nothing is confirmed, we’re expecting the game to appear in this Best Buy deal ahead of its release date in August. We’re also expecting Best Buy to knock the usual 20% off the game’s price tag for Gamers Unlocked club members.
It’s not clear yet if that $60 price point will stick though Xbox One owners will want to prepare as if the companies will charge full price for this remake.
