After years of rumor and speculation, the Fallout 4 release is finally confirmed thanks to a new trailer from Bethesda. With the PS4 and Xbox One Fallout 4 release now a done deal, we take a look at the five most important things buyers need to know right now about the next installment in the Fallout franchise.

In 2008, Bethesda released Fallout 3, the third entry into the popular series that features a apocalyptic landscape and the people that have settled the land after the destruction. Fallout 3 was one of the year’s best games and it’s considered by many to be one of the best games of all time.

In the years since its release, fans of the series were treated to Fallout: New Vegas, another entry into the Fallout series. That game also received praise from critics and fans alike though it wasn’t a full-blown successor to Fallout 3.

Fallout 4 rumors have teased console and PC gamers for years. We first started hearing whispers about a Fallout 3 successor all the way back in 2012. Recently, Fallout 4 rumors started to heat up once again and for good reason: Bethesda has finally confirmed the release of Fallout 4.

Bethesda confirmed the Fallout 4 release with an epic new trailer that provides some clues and concrete details to owners of the Xbox, PlayStation and PC. While the Fallout 4 release date itself remains a mystery, we’re now in possession of several critical details that will help hold prospective Fallout 4 buyers over until Bethesda is ready to unveil the game in full.

While the Fallout 4 release is confirmed for console and PC, the Fallout 4 release date is not. Bethesda's trailer did not offer any sort details about the official release date though we know exactly when we should hear some specifics.

Bethesda, for the first time, is going to be holding a big press conference at E3 2015 later this month. Fallout 4 rumors ahead of today's reveal suggested that the company would use the big stage to announce many of the pertinent Fallout 4 release details and that's exactly what's going to happen.

Bethesda Studios, the team behind the game, has confirmed plans to announce new Fallout 4 details at the company's press conference on June 14th. It doesn't say what will be announced there though you can bet on a few things.

First, details about the game itself. The trailer reveals quite a bit but it doesn't reveal gameplay. And second, a release date to look forward to. This is a game that's supposedly been in development for several years now so we could be pretty close to a release.

Imminent release or not, Bethesda should offer a concrete Fallout 4 release date or a vague Fallout 4 release window during its press conference in Los Angeles. Those who are interested in the game would be wise to tune into the show.
